Terms of Service
Last updated: 11 May 2026
By creating an account and using SeatKnock, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully. The key points: SeatKnock notifies you about seat availability — it does not book tickets for you.
1. What SeatKnock is
SeatKnock is a seat availability notification service. We monitor train routes on IRCTC and send you an alert — via WhatsApp, email, or SMS — when a confirmed seat becomes available on your chosen route, dates, and class.
SeatKnock does not:
- Book tickets on your behalf.
- Have any affiliation with IRCTC, Indian Railways, or the Ministry of Railways.
- Guarantee that a seat will still be available by the time you open IRCTC to book — seats on popular routes can be claimed within seconds of opening.
To complete a booking, you must log in to www.irctc.co.in directly using your own IRCTC account.
2. Eligibility
- You must be 18 years or older to use SeatKnock.
- You must have a valid IRCTC account to act on any alert we send.
- You must provide accurate contact information (phone number and/or email) when registering.
3. Alert credits (Winks)
SeatKnock uses a credit system called Alert credits (internally referred to as "Winks"). One Alert credit is deducted when you create an alert.
Auto-refund policy
If an alert expires without sending a single notification (all dates passed, no seat found), the 1 Alert credit is automatically refunded to your balance within 24 hours.
No refund on manual cancellation
If you cancel an alert manually (before expiry), no refund is issued regardless of whether a seat was found.
Alert credits are non-transferable and expire when your account is deleted.
4. Paid plans
Paid plans (Traveler Pro at Rs.99 and Elite Navigator at Rs.199) are one-time purchases that credit your account with Alert credits and unlock additional features. These are non-refundable once purchased, except as required by law.
All payments are processed by Razorpay. Plan amounts are listed in Indian Rupees (INR) inclusive of applicable taxes.
5. Data accuracy disclaimer
SeatKnock retrieves seat availability data from an unofficial IRCTC data source (irctc1 on RapidAPI). This data is indicative, not guaranteed. We make no warranty that:
- Seat availability data is always accurate or current.
- A seat shown as available when we detect it will still be available when you open IRCTC.
- The service will be available 24/7 without interruption.
Always verify availability directly on IRCTC before completing a payment.
6. Departure Day Alerts (Elite plan, BETA)
Departure Day Alerts watch for seats released in the Current Booking quota (CURR_AVBL) after chart preparation, approximately 4 hours before departure. These alerts auto-expire 30 minutes before the scheduled departure.
Important: CURR_AVBL (current quota) tickets are non-refundable and non-cancellable under IRCTC's current policy. SeatKnock is not responsible for any purchase decisions made based on these alerts.
Departure Day Alerts are a BETA feature. They may be modified, restricted, or discontinued at any time.
7. IRCTC account requirements
To book tickets using an alert, you need a valid IRCTC account. As of July 2025, IRCTC requires Aadhaar linking for:
- All Tatkal bookings.
- Bookings made in the first 15 minutes of the Advance Reservation Period (ARP) opening at 10:00 AM.
SeatKnock is not affiliated with IRCTC. Aadhaar linking requirements are set by IRCTC and may change. We are not responsible for any booking failures due to incomplete IRCTC KYC.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use SeatKnock for any commercial ticket-touting, scalping, or re-sale activity.
- Create multiple accounts to circumvent the Alert credit system.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the SeatKnock API.
- Share your account credentials with others.
We reserve the right to suspend or delete accounts that violate these terms.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SeatKnock and its operators are not liable for:
- Missed bookings due to notification delays, data inaccuracy, or IRCTC downtime.
- Any loss arising from a CURR_AVBL ticket purchase made in reliance on a Departure Day Alert.
- Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of SeatKnock.
Our total liability in any dispute is limited to the amount you paid for your current plan.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of SeatKnock after a change constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of courts in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
